- My parents have a lake house about 4 hours away from were we live. We were only able to go once this summer, but the kiddos loved it! We fished (well Bri and the kids did), swam, tubed, boated, explored and enjoyed life in the great outdoors! This is Tanner trying out fishing at Lake Brownwood.
Did I mention it is 4 hours away!? That is hard work for all of us. Aubrey learned to like T.V. on this trip because we borrowed my brothers suburban and it has a DVD player. She was also so cute snuggling and sleeping with her "Bay."
While we were there, Aubrey was very content to play w/ the lower cabinets in the kitchen. We would find (hours after they went missing) sippy cups, books, one of the boy's shoes, her baby and more tucked away in random cabinets. She had a great time with pots, pans and anything else she discovered. It was fun watching her be so busy with what was available. (There are no toys at the lake house and we only brought this one baby doll. That was fun for the older kids too. It is amazing how interesting life can still be minus TV and toys.)
Finally, Aubrey is loving the water! This was a turning point this summer. I don't know if it was because the water was so warm or because that was our activity for hours at a time, but Aubrey would beg to get back in the lake. Yahoo! We are all happy about this change because it made it very challenging to try to go swim at Grandma's w/ the older kids. Aubrey would reluctantly get in the pool (at my parent's) and then last about 5 minutes and be ready to go home.
