Shoot Me Now.
I am drowning in a disrupted house.
We had the plumbers living in our house for three weeks straight. They left on a Wednesday and the painters moved in the following Tuesday. I did it to myself though. I decided now was the time to paint have the house painted. Why? Why???? They are projected to stay three weeks, but I can already tell that guess on their end is WAY OFF.
I am definitely not in my happy place. I am feeling anxious about the mess/the people/the paint choices.
My life in pictures....it will be nice one day, and I will be so happy....right?
Trying to figure out the main paint color for the house. I went with Alabaster. It is a creamy white. Our walls have been gray for the past 10 years. It was nice, but I am ready for a change! The painters just kept adding to this table and chairs. It took me a good 10 days before I realized stacking the pictures and clearing off the table would help me feel better about our living situation. Also, every time I clean it off, they add things to it.
Just more randomly stacked wall decor.
There are two main guys and two helpers. The best thing is I really like them. I can tell they are good guys. They share corny jokes with each other and talk about their evening plans. I heard two of them whispering, "look, they believe in Jesus Christ too." One guy told me he plays Billy Graham every night when he is going to sleep. I was leery about who to have inside our house. I am glad I feel good about this crew.
Our entry without anything in it!
Our entry with their stuff set up in it...not quite as exciting.
Decorating is not my strong suite. Picking colors was stressful. I'm not confident in my choices. Even after I pick something, like a new couch, it takes me several days to feel comfortable with it.I was trying to decide between Alabaster and Bone white for the top half and bottom half of my bedroom or Alabaster and Quietude. We have a chair rail all around the room so they suggested two colors might be nice. I went with Quietude and really like it.
We've had the A/C guy this month. Our back unit is not keeping up.
We've had a man working on our sprinkler lines...and he busted one of the lines and had to fix it at 11 pm. Then he disappeared for a week (jail?).
We had a knock at the door from the City of Odessa. Our water had been flowing at a half gallon per minute...a water leak from the sprinkler guy's fix. It's been an expensive couple of months for sure.
The painters stayed SIX WEEKS and they aren't 100% finished, but I'm so glad they are gone. My plan was to have new carpet and paint before Parker got home. Painters were on the "work five hours a day and increase the quoted price and double the time to paint" schedule. They left/were pushed out the DAY before Parker was flying in. No new carpet. I just can't handle any more random men or disasters in our house right now. Brian said, and he has a good point, he is waiting for this headline, "Odessa Woman Goes Postal on Painters."
It's been a rough two months, and I have not been my happiest. Okay...I'm going to quit whining.
It's nice to have our home back.
