Volleyball Friends

August 2023

Aubrey is starting her Junior year and will be on the Permian JV volleyball team.  Her very best friends (besides her cousin Lauron) play v-ball too.  It's definitely a time commitment.  They have summer Speed and Strength workouts M-Th mornings in June and July if they are in town.  Aubrey was thrilled that she was gone so much this summer.  Speed and Strength is tough.  It's 95 degrees and they do weight room, conditioning and lots of other fun stuff.  When she did go, she would come home dripping in sweat and exhausted.

Then, the last week of June, summer Volleyball starts.  This is lots more fun but still takes a chunk out of her carefree summer.  She has two games every Tuesday and every Thursday through the month of July.  Sometimes their last game starts as late as 11:30pm.  Craziness.  The bonus for us is that at least she is driving this summer.  Brian and/or I went for at least one game each night.

Then the first week of August, preseason starts which includes traveling and tournaments.  When school starts, the 2nd week of August, volleyball just continues.  They miss the afternoon classes every Tuesday and Friday.  If they are traveling, they may not get home until midnight.  It's a lot.

I've been extremely impressed that Aubrey has been able to take advanced classes and maintain excellent grades the past two years.  She also attends early morning seminary M-F which starts at 6:30 a.m.  She struggles with maintaining a positive attitude about seminary.  (That may be the understatement of the year!  Ha.)  It helps keep a little that she has two amazing teachers who also happen to be her aunts.  (Britney and Angelique.)

But I digress...

Here are a few preseason pictures Aubrey and a few of her friends took.

Maci McCloud, Nisi, Parker Huse, Maiya Morgan and Aubrey

Aub and Dylan recreated a favorite photo they took last year.
Parker and Aubrey.  I love that they have gotten so much closer over the past several months.

Aub and the twins: Morgan E. and Aubrey E.
This is the 2nd year Maiya Morgan and Aubrey will be on different teams.  It's tough, but somehow, they've remained close.

I think this is JV and Varsity.  Aubrey is on the back row 2nd to last person on the right.
