Throwback Calendar 2015

May 2025

This 2015 calendar was out at my parents this month so I scanned the photos and am posting here. I think it's such a fun way to capture family memories.

Top left: Grandpa Steve Vore, Nate (in sombrero), Mason & Max w/ cousins, Stevie
Middle picts: Brian w/ Hudson, Grandpa & grandkids, Lauron (w/ scary makeup), Brian Merkley w/ Griff & Blair
Bottom: Erin Meisje, La, Braddock, Aubrey & Holden-it was a good Star Wars year! (fierce hula hoop battle at school), Charlotte & Blair, Grandpa & Becky, Gram (Laurel Vore) & me (Erin Gwilliam)

I remember my parents were serving in the temple presidency at this time and loved the calendar...but my mom was a little mortified by what I put under Kerry's picture. I think Nate put this "gay porn star" magnet on his truck as a joke. Kerry drove around quite a while before discovering it. Also, the labels I put under the other siblings were pretty spot on.
Becky and Brian Merkley and family (Griffin is 3 and Blair is 1 in these pictures) Top right is Grandpa at a Permian High school with Blair & Charlotte
Since I make and give the calendars each year, I usually try to have one page featuring my siblings and their families and then I fill the others with my fam or kiddos. This is Aubrey's page from this year. I think she was in 2nd grade and turning 8 soon. I love looking back at these pictures. She had so much personality and pizazz as a child and was not worried to show it. (middle right picture-trying on and posing with high heels).  She loved to bake, create and loved spending time with her cousin/best friend Lauron. (top right on a Disney Cruise)
Tanner's spread. He was in 4th grade and about 10 this year.  Some of the pictures: playing mini air hockey w/ his cousin (and best friend) Holden while Park and Aubrey looked on. With Gram at Young Author's Day at Reagan elementary. Top right he busted his chin and we superglued it rather than heading to the E.R. Middle picture is of a terrible knee wound. He and Parker had a combined b-day party at the skating rink that evening. Our house was happening with extra friends, and I was loading up all the b-day food and treats so we could head to the party. His friend ran in from the backyard and told us Tanner was hurt and needed us. We asked if he was crying...and since he was, we knew it was serious. (Tanner is tough, or has a very high pain threshold, or maybe both.) He had tripped by an old style back flow preventer and cut a deep, gaping wound right above his knee cap. I was grateful Brian was already home from work because he is the parent who takes care of scary medical things in our family. Tanner missed his party but got extra attention at school for a couple of weeks. He still has an ugly scar to go with this memory.
Uncle Natey is lots of fun! He always has awesome Halloween costumes and gives fun gifts. What I remember from these years is he would always swing by when he came to town and our kids LOVED it. He would let them climb in his truck and play with his dog.
Water pictures. Top right: at Lake Brownwood Aubrey, Brinley, Parker & Tanner The other pictures are probably from Gram & Grandpa's pool: right: Parker w/ Danielle (King-2nd cousin) on his shoulders, Charity w/ Stevie on hers, and they are holding Aubrey. Bottom left: Britney w/ Braddock & Hudson (Probably about 6 & 4), Far right: Lauron & Aubrey
Parker's page- He was probably 12 and in the 6th grade. Top left: San Francisco Pier 49 piano stairs. Each step played a note. Top right: Brian took Tanner & Parker to a BYU vs Texas game, and there was a team fireside they were able to attend. They were excited meet Taysom Hill, the team quarterback.  Bottom pictures: silly boy w/ multiple book covers on his head, Reagan track & field day, biking with Mom
Brinley Kate's page-our Nimitz Jr. High 8th grader. She loved shooting a bow and arrow at Grandpa Gwilliam's house so much that she invested in one for herself. Middle picture: no more braces! Top right: Roswell, NM-lots of alien picture opportunities due to an alleged UFO crash in the 1940s. Bottom left: church foyer Tanner, Parker, Charity, Aubrey & Brinley, Bottom right: her favorite two Gwilliam cousins, Macy & Caroline. These three would always hang out at reunions.
Chris and Angelique family page Top right: Adam at an internet cafe on his mission in Cambodia. This was back in the day when you got to call home only on Christmas and Mother's Day. Chris and Ang were always very generous with that call home and invited extended family to come over and talk/listen to Adam. I think it was a great experience for all of the youngers cousins to feel the spirit and see the love, support and excitement around serving a mission too.
Kerry Vore family  He has always been a fantastic father and Stevie and Holden are such good looking kids. I love the picture of Tanner & Holden at the bottom. They were like two bear cubs for years.
Adam was a fantastic missionary. He and his wife, Megan, shortly after they were married went back to Cambodia to work/live for several months.
The cute Birdies
Britney & Adam Bird page  Ella (8) saw this calendar at Gram and Gramps last week and was not pleased because she wasn't in it. I'm pretty sure Grandpa blamed it on me. (Telling her I just forgot to include a picture of her...) Luckily she stopped by with Brit one day afterschool while I was there, and I cleared the air. She wasn't born until July of this calendar year!
