We were able to spend a little time with Brinley on Thursday and then we enjoyed hanging out with Eric and family, Scott and family and Brian's parents on the other days we were there. Park and Tanner were living it up at home alone. They were going to stay with Gram and Gramp but a guy on the football team tested positive for Covid so we had them stay home alone. Aubrey headed out with Chris, Ang, Lauron and Braddock to Utah for the Liahona youth conference. Here are a few pictures and details from the weekend.

Tyler is the youngest grand baby and so cute and shy. Brian miraculously scooped him up and hung out with him outside for a few minutes one day. He will smile at most anyone but other than a smile, he won't get too close to anyone beside his parents and grandparents. (They live with Joyce and Jerry)
Bri, Eric and the boys went shooting one day. Kris, Carrie and I went on a fun walk that same afternoon. Kris spoiled us with great breakfasts and dinners each night. She also made some delicious salted caramel Rice Krispy treats. I am a fan.At home, Tanner was living his best life with unlimited phone time, no parental interference, a new drivers license and access to the kids car while Park drove the van.
He took his test the week before we left. I was so impressed with his parallel parking. (That was the only part I was able to see from where I was waiting.) We have a picture of Brinley and Parker standing in front of the DPS building holding their drivers license certificate after they passed. This sneaky picture is the best I could do with Tanner. As usual, he would have nothing to do with anything that might draw extra attention to himself.Anyway, I think he thoroughly enjoyed his freedom while we were out of town.
Park had a football game in Amarillo which is about 4 hours away. One of the last things I said to him was, "do good at your game and don't get hurt." Well....he was having a pretty great game. He had two fumble recoveries as well as a blocked field goal and numerous tackles when his big toe got dislocated. I started getting texts from friends about him being on the sideline with the trainer. Then Brian got a call from the doctor to get permission for him to receive shots and for the doctor to try to adjust his toe. They couldn't get it back in place and the doctor said it needed to be looked at that night.
He drove home with Cole's mom, and they met Grandpa at the ER in the middle of the night. X-rays showed no break, and the ER doctor tried adjusting his toe as well with no luck. Then he and Grandpa went home for 2.5 hours and then up at 7:30 to go to the team clinic. More x-rays, more shots and more adjusting...and then an appointment for surgery that afternoon.
He had a bone that was in the wrong place and blocking the adjustment of the dislocated toe. They were able to fix it with surgery and a pin, and we arrived at the hospital just as he was waking up in the operating recovery room. Our flight home was a little stressful with our worry for Parker, and I really hope Grandpa will Not Get Covid from being in the worst place ever for someone in their seventies.
It felt so good to finally see him. It was horrible not being there for him. He was super tough but a little teary when he called and was about to go into surgery. My momma heart was BREAKING. My poor baby. We are home now, and Park is doing great. He went to church this morning at 9, had a couple of friends stop by in the afternoon, and went to our Sunday night gathering. Hopefully everything will heal just fine and he won't be in too much pain this week.
And it's nice to feel loved. Harper T. and Harris S. dropped by for about an hour on Sunday. They brought him a large chocolate extreme blizzard too. Happy boy!
