It's been a rough kind of a week. Tanner has had a bad cough for about a month and then, last Saturday, he refereed soccer all day in the cold and the wind. (What kind of mother would allow this to happen? A mother of a stubborn teen, I guess.) We are now on day NINE of him being wiped out. (So much homework to makeup. 😠) High fever, sore throat, awful cough etc... I took him in on Monday to test for strep and I wish I would have insisted that they test for flu as well. We are going back in tomorrow.
Brian had a stomach bug for two days and now has the flu stuff that Tanner has. It the worst. They are both so pathetic and I feel so helpless. I have been bringing meds and drinks and shakes and wiping the house down with antibacterial wipes throughout the day.
Brian is going to the doctor tomorrow as well. They both received priesthood blessings today. That definitely brings a measure of peace. Hopefully Parker, Aubrey and I can remain healthy.
On Tuesday, Tanner was home but feeling pretty well. He passed his test for his learner's permit and we went driving in our neighborhood. Love the concentration shown here. His tense muscles show just about how I felt as he was driving...but I tried to project a calm demeanor. Wish me luck in teaching teen #3 to drive!
They've been pretty pathetic. You know Brian is sick when he actually wants a blanket. He has had over 103° at times the past the days. I asked him today (Sunday) if we needed to go to the ER. When he mumbled "I don't know" I thought we probably needed to go. (But then Brian didn't want to go.) I called my good friend Martha M and she gave me some things to check. (hydration level, oxygen level etc...) After that I felt we could stay home for a while longer and ride things out.
A couple of times Tanner has rallied and was sure he was 100% better. Here he is doing homework. That lasted about 45 minutes and then he was back to the recliner. And back to 102° fever. Poor baby.
In addition to taking care of the sickies, I was also busy this week with things like: jury duty (cancelled once I showed up), oil change, eye doctor appointment for Aubrey, mowing, exercising (4 mile bike ride, Zumba with Aubrey & McKowns), DMV appointment with Tanner (when he was on antibiotics and not raging with fever), Relief Society stuff, two football games, a volleyball game and more.
Hoping Brian and Tanner feel better soon and we have a smoother week all around.
