Spa Day by Aubrey

My 4 1/2 year old niece Perry and her mom, Becky, had this conversation the night before Mother's Day.

Perry: Mother's Day is about giving food.  Like breakfast in bed.

Becky: Oh, I don't want breakfast in bed.  I want to sleep in!

Perry: .......So you hate Mother's Day?

My Spa day started a little rough.  On Saturday night at 11:30, Aubrey was insistent that I  log her into the computer right away.  I was tired.  Electronics were put away for the night, but then she pleaded, "I haaaavvvee to.  It's for  your Mother's Day present."

So I put in the password and finished getting ready for bed.  All mothers know you can't be too stern with your child when they are working on a Mother's Day gift for you, even if you really just want them to start heading to bed.

At midnight, I walked back through the den, and she was still on the computer.  I mentioned it was time for her to turn off the computer and head to bed.  She was miffed and insisted that she must finish up right then.  I tried to hold firm and be kind at the same time.  She was working on a good cause....but still.....I must admit Becky and Perry's conversation ran through my head.

At 12:38 a.m., I was lying in bed in our pitch black room.  I had my blanket over my head so as not disturb Brian while I browsed through my phone. Aubrey slipped into the room and whispered in my ear.  "Mom, I need you to fill out this spa survey."  I about jumped through the roof out of fright.   Mother's Day or not there was no more nice mom for me.  I growled,  "Aubrey, Go To Bed Now."   "But Mom....."  "I will fill it out tomorrow.  I just want you to go to bed right now."

12:38 a.m.  Happy Mother's Day to me.

Aubrey held the actual Spa Day after church, and it was relaxing, adorable, amazing and fun.
She changed into this fancy outfit to escort me to my room.  She has on Brinley's heels and the back, center of her skirt has a  hair tie to make the front fit tighter on her legs.  We were both giggling at that hack.  She was very professional and had me sit down at her desk.  I had a glass of cold water waiting, and I filled out my information sheet.
The ambiance of the room was wonderful.  She really went all out in preparing.  She had fancy lights on the floor.  She also had soft music playing and a diffuser with essential oils creating a calming smell.  She even moved my yellow tulips into the room.  So cute and thoughtful....she may be an event planner one day.

After I filled out my questionnaire, she excused herself to go "get Aubrey" who would be doing the actual massage.  She made a mad dash for the closet a few feet away, and we both started giggling again.  She came out in a new outfit, read through my questionnaire, and proceeded with my treatments.

She gave me a manicure, a relaxing full body massage, and an eyebrow treatment.  Thanks my sweet girl.  Happy Mother's Day to me!!!
