President Nelson recently gave a challenge to recognize and post on social media the things we were grateful for. He spoke of the healing power that comes from being grateful. It was wonderful to have my news feed full of so many uplifting posts from my friends and family. It was a rewarding activity for me to think about specific things I was grateful for each day.
Here is a link to his video post. When I watch it, I can just feel President Nelson's love for me right through the TV screen. I am grateful for a prophet to lead and guide us today.
Here is my first social media post from this challenge:
I am grateful for Aubrey. She is positive and kind. She sets new goals and works on accomplishing things all of the time—it’s impressive! (Learning to type, writing in her journal regularly, practicing volleyball by herself daily etc). Recently I was sick for several days and she took such good care of me. She’d bring me food and drinks or just come visit me throughout the day. She is a bright spot in our home and family. #givethanks
For the Odessa Fourth Ward Relief Society sisters, I had purchased, w/ our church budget, beautiful crystal Christmas tree ornaments (.75 cents each) to give to each sister. I knew we had about $500 left in our budget for Relief Society since we haven't been able to have activities for the past nine months. I was trying to figure out what might be a good way to use those funds to benefit our sisters.
Well....I found gratitude journals!!! As soon as I saw them, I felt chills. I knew this was our gift! I was able to purchase fifty with our excess funds from Relief Society and our presidency started handing them out last week. It makes my heart happy. I hope we can continue (or start) keeping a record of things we are thankful for each day.
