December Happenings

This is our calmest December in a while.  For years our holidays have been filled with sports games and recitals.  Last year both kids were in the middle of basketball season, so we had plenty of games and practices to work around.  We had just learned about Tanner's girlfriend, Erin, being pregnant, which was stressful.  Brinley was wrapping up her mission.   Also, last Christmas things were crazy with my mom's mental health (Alzheimer's), and we were all hands on deck trying to help both my mom and dad survive her confusion.  This December was a walk in the park in comparison!

Here are a few pictures from the first couple of weeks of December.

Aub decorated this beautiful cookie at our ward party.  Bro Atchley was taking pictures.  Really weird to be down to three people sometimes at church events.

For her safety, my mom has been moved to a twin sized hospital bed with rails.  Her day usually starts between 3-4 a.m.!  I went over around 6 one morning and this is what I found.  How cute is this?  My dad wiggles his way into her bed to snuggle with her each morning.  He says she is indifferent at best.  I love witnessing the love and devotion he has for her.
She takes good care of this baby my dad got her.

Helped host a baby shower for Mayra Wilson.  She is expecting twins in January.  It was fun to celebrate her.

With all of the December craziness, we were worried about a low turnout.  However, several sisters showed up and supported Mayra and family.
At the end, we took this picture but a handful of sisters had left already.  Back row: Brookly, Me, Kimberla, Alma  Middle row: Jenny, Amanda & Carla with Crystal  Front: Britney, Mayra & Olivia

I made advent calendars for those I minister to as well as Erin's parents.  Whoa...it was a lot of work.  I have the bags with the cute countdown numbers that I ordered from China to sell.  (And they haven't sold well.  Boo)  Then I printed scriptures from the New Testament about the birth of Christ for each day.  Brian made some laser ornaments and nametags for a few of the days, and I bought candy and fruit leather for other days.
Anna & Alma Merriman's advent calendar.  They sent me a picture.

I busted my tail to get them out in time.  I personally delivered the one to the Flores' because I wanted to make sure they got it in time.  Well, a funny thing happened.  Tanner answered the door, and we were both surprised!  I told him it was a gift for them and left.  He just put it under the tree!  I think it was around December 20th when they noticed a random package and investigated.  Whoops!  Their advent calendar fun was very condensed!

Bryn and her boyfriend Derek.  They started dating in November.  She seems to really like him.  When I ask for details, she always mentions what a really good guy he is.  That makes me happy.  She also says he is funny and very considerate.   He teaches at the MTC and is planning on teaching history at the high school level.  We will see how things progress!
FINALLY put the ribbon on...maybe one day we will add ornaments.

I love this little boy so much.  He was helping me make dinner and do dishes!  He is a good baby.  Very content.  Tanner and Erin don't think he is very content.  He does require a lot of work, but he is pretty happy most of the time.  They don't realize that you can take care of all the needs and sometimes the baby is just cranky anyway!  They take very good care of him.

Aub skipping school to make it to Taco Villa Monday on Wednesday at Rosas.  Turkey girl.

Bri's work party.  I don't love this picture, but this is us I guess.  We had a nice time.  It was at the Grande Fun Dome hotel.  We had a nice meal, played some games and won some prizes.  I won a very nice wireless speaker.  Last year Bri won an Alexa Echo Show.

Seminary!  They need two adults in the building, so Bri and I have volunteered to be the extra adult a few weeks.  I usually take my computer and exercise mat and get a quick workout in.  I actually like it because I get up earlier and knock it out.  (Unlike today.  I woke up at 7:30 with the plan to workout.  It's 9:41 and my plan is still to workout this morning.😑)

We are so grateful and blessed to have Angelique and Britney team teaching this year.  (They each teach every other week.)  They are both AMAZING women who love the gospel and love the youth.  I am really grateful for their dedication, willingness and sacrifice.
Ang teaching
Patrick and Analise Howell, Julio Pena (He was one of my Cub scouts!), a lot of kids I don't know (3 wards combined), Luna Head (pink jacket), Ali Crissinger, Aubrey & Lauron (back row), Haley ? and Trinity Ormsby in front of Aub, more kids I don't know

Tanner does online seminary.  We have been super impressed at his willingness to attend.  He has a legit excuse...a little guy who doesn't sleep through the night and is with him several nights a week.  Sometimes Kaide gets up at 4:30 and is back to sleep by 5:30 and Tanner's class starts at 6:00am.  Really grateful for Tanner's online teachers too and Tanner's willingness to make seminary part of his day.
I love this picture so much.

Tummy time with Mom
Aub and I both love a good advent calendar.  When she was about 10, we got her a bracelet charm advent and her excitement was adorable.  When I saw this Dr. Teals calendar, I knew she needed it!  It contained lots of great bubble baths and salts to test without the full size commitment.

A couple of my Christmas projects.  I made these shirts for the missionaries in our ward.  I also made Kaide this cute outfit with the evolution of his name.  Right now he is "Bug" atleast 75% of the time.

More December happenings to come....
