Date Night in Dallas

September 2, 2018
We have been looking to purchase a car for Brinley (and soon Parker) to drive.  Luckily the Bird's have been very generous and have once again lent us their Sequoia.  It has saved me with the crazy back to school schedule. (seminary at 6:00, Nimitz football 7:00, PHS football 7:15, Aub to school by 8:25, Brinley to school by 9:25...and then it is just as crazy in the afternoon and evening starting with pick up at 4:25.)

Well, we finally found a car on Craigslist in Dallas that we felt was a good match for us.  Similar cars were priced $5000 higher in the Big O.  Crazy town.  I texted Brian on Friday night while he was at the Permian game.  I contacted the dealership via text and worked the details out...got to love that.  We purchased tickets to Dallas for the next afternoon and then drove it home Saturday night.  Whew.

Brian was joking about the kind of amazing dates he takes me on...flying me out to Dallas for dinner and a car.  Sounds good to me!  We were both able to fly because we have a companion pass (companion flies free) on Southwest this year.  We earned that because I booked the big Vore Disney Cruise on our credit card last year and my parents reimbursed us.  Sadly we have only used our companion pass one other time so far and it expires in December.  Darn.

It really was a great date night.  The one hour flight to Dallas is cake compared to flying to SLC or Oakland.  We were able to eat at Papasitos...delish!  And we had plenty of time to visit and catch up on the week.
Honda Civic 2014.  Bryn and Park aren't big fans of the color...but
are pleased to have a car to drive.  I hope this one lasts longer than
our first kid car which only lasted 8 months.  (Totaled in a crash
that was not Bryn's fault.  We are so grateful she wasn't injured.)

So the kid that picked us up from the airport and co-owns the
dealership drives this on the weekends.  He looked about 25.
I had to take a picture for our boys.

And this lovely XBox setup was in their lobby...
kids I tell you.  How do they end up owning
a dealership and driving sports cars?

We split a fajita plate and sopapillas.  Bri mostly ate the fajitas
and I mostly ate the dessert.  Soooo good!

And when we pulled in after midnight the boys were both up
innocently playing Fortnite and watching the BYU game on
this set up.  Turkeys.
