We invited Gram and Grandpa to join us for dinner on Sunday. They have us over to eat on Sundays about once every couple of months. We have them over a few times a year...need to work on that one.
Anyway, Grandpa brought his books. He wrote a note in special note in each one and gave one to each of our kiddos and one to me and Brian.
It was fun watching the kids take some time to read some of the book right then. For family home evening later that afternoon, we read about Grandpa's conversion story and a little about his college days with Gram.
I have noticed Aubrey has been especially faithful in reading Grandpa's book each day. She is about halfway through it. I love when I hear her giggling in the other room. Grandpa was a mischievous kid so there is plenty to laugh about. For example, he wrote about the time he hooked up a whistler firecracker to a teacher's car. He attached it to the spark plugs and when she started the car it whistled and banged and let out smoke. He also mentions the time, well before he had a license, he took the family car out for a spin and had a little accident in the carport.
We had Sunday night at Chris and Ang's, and it made my heart happy to see my dad walking in with more of his books to hand out. I know these memories my dad recorded will be something all of our family members will always cherish.
