We had Stake Conference in Midland today. Our goal was to leave at 9:15 so we would sit somewhat closer to the front but sadly we didn't make it. The boys goal every Sunday is to be woken up 10-15 minutes before we are heading out the door...and to stay in bed a few minutes longer after they have been given that warning. It's the worst but at least we are all at church together.
We ended up with seats three-fourths of the way back in the gym. It was incredibly loud with lots of little kids and lots of talking. It was also pretty hot too but there were some great talks. One of my favorite was about avoiding "distracted living." Brother Lloyd Stutz began by talking about distracted driving and how we all know the problems and accidents that it can bring. He then went on to talk about distracted living. He mentioned our fast paced world with tons of additional distractions with cell phones and video games and music etc.... He talked about taking time to unplug and ponder everyday. He also mentioned specific ideas on how to focus more during sacrament meeting. I definitely want to assess my life and make changes to be more focused on what matters most.
After church we headed home and Parker and I finished making lunch. At the dinner table I glanced over at Park who was shirtless and I just saw hairy armpits. (insert eye roll) I asked him to put a shirt on and he groaned "you almost didn't catch me." He decided he was just going to get whatever shirt he could find off the folding table. He came out in one of mine and it was not pretty! (or maybe just a little too pretty?) We were all teasing him quite a bit but when Brian pulled out the camera he whipped the shirt off pretty quickly! Then he just decided to embrace it. Crazy kid!
Bryn pulled up her pictures and videos and shared in more detail about her time in Brazil. Parker, Tanner, Aubrey and I played a game of Exploding Kittens and then most of us headed for Sunday afternoon naps. Tanner and Aubrey stayed up and played a competitive game of Monopoly. We ended the day with our Sunday night gathering with our extended family where we celebrated Charity's Sweet Sixteenth birthday and Brian's 50th birthday! All in all it was a very pleasant Sunday.
Bryn sharing her picts...we eventually put them up on the TV so everyone could see better.
Megan, David, Gram and Gramp, Shari and John, Emily, Charity, Brinley, Aub, Me and Tanner w/ Park in front of the ottoman.
Lauron made the cake-impressive!
Lauron and Holden came over for a sleepover. They all started on the trampoline but moved into the playroom around 1:00 in the morning. Cousins are The Best.
