Disney Cruise--Getting to Florida

February 22, 2019
This past summer when we were trying to make Vore vacation plans we decided it would be totally doable to skip a week of school to go on a Star Wars Disney Cruise.  Once school actually started and the cruise date got closer, the more we realized we were a little delusional in thinking this was a good plan!  Brinley only has two core classes so missing a week was not a big deal.  I was a little concerned with Aubrey stressing herself out   I was more concerned with Parker and Tanner.  I could just envision lots of makeup work never being turned in and it affecting their whole semester averages.

Also, Parker was a nervous wreck.  He did not want to tell his football coaches because he was sure he would be getting chewed out for days.  He was also worried because he had already been out several days with strep and flu. He finally got up the nerve to tell them and they were actually pretty good about him missing.  The head coach did give him the "we are a TEAM" lecture and "what are you going to do if your family goes on vacation during football season?" lecture.  (Ugh--football coaches...they rule Parker's life...but I'll save that for another post.)

Britney's group had to miss the tryouts for Star Wars (hula hoop battles) at Reagan Elementary.  Everyone could feel their loss because it is definitely a Vore (Gwilliam/Bird) tradition to make the team and usually to win a trophy.   Also, as the date got closer, we realized the kids would come back from this trip, have only four days of school and then have spring break!  Seriously, what were we thinking when we booked this cruise?!

However, even with a few booking concerns, we were all of course very willing and ready and excited to go on another Vore Family Vacation together!  Gram and Gramp flew out a day early to try to avoid some of the dust/dirt/allergies.  (Poor Gram...West Texas is hard on her.)  The majority of the family flew out of Midland and met Nate, Beth and the Merkleys in Dallas for the next flight to Orlando.  (We had Benja and Joseph flying in from SLC, and Charity and Ang coming the next morning after a gym meet.)  Traveling with 35 plus is crazy and fun and really so much easier now that our group is so much older.  Sure love our Vore family.

Our friends the Terry's were our Uber drivers! We got to ride in the infamous
"Vanna"...their 12 passenger van.

The Birds arrived at the Midland airport and it wasn't long before the fun began.

Bryn whipped out cards.

Tan and Dad had a little spot.

The Kerry Vores

La and Aub usually sat with Uncle Chris.

Nate and Beth

Park, Bryn and Grandma Honey (Shari Martin).
We had about 15 seconds of crazy turbulence on our way to Dallas.
Grandma Honey was doing breathing exercises to calm herself and
Parker was biting his lip and trying not to bust out in laughter.

PERRY!  She turned 3 in January and is talking up a storm.
She was also so accepting and friendly.  We were all smitten.

Yea for a play area in the Dallas airport. (Blair, Char and Ella)
