Last year Brian went to Brinley's awards banquet while I took care of the other kids and their evening schedules. This year we swapped. It was very long banquet, like 3.5 hours long, but also very worth it. Brinley works so hard at everything she does. She, and the other SIP students, were recognized for their involvement in Students in Philanthropy. The class raised money all year, learned about different community organizations, and then chose which organizations they would monetarily support. In SIP they also worked with the special education students. Brinley loved interacting with those special kiddos. She was also recognized for being the SIP president, #12 out of 772 students, taking dual credit classes, being inducted into the Permian Academic Hall of Fame, and being in the National Honor Society. Go Brinley Kate!

Aubrey brought home a slip of paper saying she would be receiving an award at the 6th grade assembly. She was wondering all weekend which teacher picked her and what the award would be. Her excitement was adorable. She received an award for A Honor Roll. (all A's all year.) I think she was a little disappointed that she wasn't selected for a particular class but really only a handful of students were. She works so diligently to keep her grades up and complete each assignment to the best of her ability. I am very proud of her!

I knew Aubrey had an awards assembly but Tanner hadn't said a word. (The school sends home a paper only to the parents whose child is receiving an award...bless them.) As they were heading out to the car with Brian on Monday morning I asked Tanner if he had received a slip. "Yes but don't come." Turkey boy. I couldn't decide if he really didn't want me there or just had to act tough. This is my kid who pretends he was hatched from an egg. Parents? What are they? He knows we love him and luckily I know he loves us too.
I had already made other plans that morning which I could have changed but decided to text a friend to grab a few pictures if possible. After being to Aubrey's assembly that morning I figured he was probably being recognized for A/B Honor Roll. However, he was recognized as outstanding Spanish II student. I wrote the teacher a brief email thanking her for recognizing his abilities. (Eighth grade boys, mine at least, can hide their potential behind immature behavior at times.) She mentioned how impressed she was with his work in Spanish this year even if he did drive her nuts at times. (I hear ya.) He came home with a crumpled certificate. He was "flexing" on classmates and bragging about how he was so outstanding. (One of the girls flexed back by crumpling his award.😂) Oh Tanner, we love you.

8th grade boys in action |
There aren't awards assemblies for Sophomores so Parker didn't have anything. Some of his friends were inducted into National Honor Society and he came home committing to be in it next year. I was impressed that he thought that through and hope he makes that happen.
He has had a big load this school year with early morning seminary, AP History, AP Chemistry and AP English. His biggest load and personal focus has definitely been football. He had early morning, during school and after school practices. Here are a couple of pictures from his Spring game two weeks ago. Can't wait to watch him this fall.
