Temple Trip

Because the boys football games were on Wed/Thurs rather than Thurs/Fri, it really opened up our weekend.  Tanner had friends over on Friday night.  Parker went the OHS game with friends.  Aubrey was able to relax Friday evening and have Avery over on Saturday evening.  She also wrapped up her summer reading project.  (The project that never seems to end.  Parker turned his in on Friday.  Tanner and Aubrey's are due Monday.  Hallelujah!)

Friday night we were doing our Come Follow Me family scripture study and we read 1 Corninthians 15:29 that says, "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not all? why are they then baptized for the dead?"

It was nice to discuss the fact that baptisms for the dead were a part of the Church of Jesus Christ in New Testament times. It was also a good opportunity for us to discuss our how we are doing as a family on temple work.  I think we are doing pretty good about going to the temple but not so great on researching family history.

During scriptures Aubrey threw her hands up in the air and huffed, "I have only been to the temple twice and have only done baptisms for nine people."  I was surprised.  Really?  She has been 12 and eligible to go since January.  Thinking back on the year, I believe she was sick for one of the youth temple trips.  We also went once as a family.  Anyway, she and I decided to go on Saturday!  (Back to it was so nice not having a late Friday night football game this week.  It made a last minute temple trip seem doable and fun.)

We woke up early the next morning and found and printed names for her to take.  She brought 23 names and then shared half with a sister who came who didn't have any names.  I was able to serve in another area of the temple and then we met up after about an hour.  I am so glad we were able to make the temple a part of our weekend.

Brinley is doing well.  She and her roomies are having fun being weird and being social.  She has been on a couple of group dates, hung out with Vore cousins, completed her first week of classes, gone to a few volleyball games, and more.  We love hearing about her adventures!
Ang took her crew and Brinley to lunch.  She also stopped by to see Brinley's apartment and meet her roommates.  How sweet is that?!  She's a good aunt!  (Erin, Kate, Joseph and Brinley)
I was able to craft some this weekend.  Our friend Michaela Wegener is going on a mission and I made this little sign for her family.  I also made a gift for my friend who had her first grandchild.  In other news, I am finally unpacked from my BYU trip and feeling more caught up with life.
