I am loving the school calendar this year. Every six weeks when grades are due, the teachers had an administrative day and the students get a day off. It's really nice to have breather days spread throughout the year.
Tanner and Park still had mandatory football practice. (Tanner at 6:30 a.m. and Parker at 8:30 and 12:30) The football culture here is absolutely crazy and very annoying...but I'm not holding a grudge.
We then did our morning chores and headed to the park for a cousin picnic. (See yesterday's post.) Afternoon plans consisted of Parker finishing up practice and coming home to crash. He's been sick for a week but he "can't" miss football...which makes no sense...but back to the football coaches and culture.
Anyway, the fun part of the day consisted of Aubrey heading over to Avery's and Tanner having a few friends our way. I love seeing my kiddos carefree and interacting with their friends.
They had to show me their new crazy cool handshake they made up last week. It was very impressive!
Brian was home with Tanner and friends, so I slipped out to make a Target run. I ran right into Aubrey and Avery. Aubrey said hello and goodbye. She didn't want me to get any ideas about having them wrap up their afternoon hangout sessions.I found this awesomeness at Target for about .30¢ a box. I have a problem with sales. It's definitely my trigger when I am shopping. I'm just chalking this up to food storage for the next 18 months. I spent $5.40. Can't beat that!
I won't show my large stash of Halloween candy I purchased on clearance. I need to make a rule for myself that I can only buy chocolate full price. (I probably purchased 10-15 bags. Shhhhh, don't tell the kids.)

Luckily, once we settled into the lesson, he was fine. We had a good lesson on personal revelation. We talked about how we can receive it and also how to make sure there is nothing going on that might block us from receiving the revelation. Both Tanner and Parker shared some things they had learned from EFY, which was awesome. When there is some volunteer participation from the kids, you know something is getting through.
We wrapped up with an interactive game of Psyche on our phones. We called Brinley and she joined us! Parker was the one to call Bryn but he was also the one saying "when I am at college, NEVER call me to play a game or join in Family Home Evening." We had a lot of fun.
She beat us badly. Brinley is very quick witted and funny. You can tell from my score that she doesn't get that from me!😉
