Babysitting Solo

June 2019
Aubrey is so good with children.  She's a little pied piper and really has some very natural talents when it comes to keeping kiddos happy and engaged.  She has had the opportunity to team babysit with Lauron some this past year but last week she had her first solo job. She was a little nervous.  I was surprised because she is really just so good with kids.

As we talked I realized she was not so much nervous about taking care of the three year old, but more so with talking to the parents beforehand when they picked her up.  We role played some and she really wanted me to do the talking when Kaley came to pick her up.  I made a conscious effort to just say hello and let Aubrey do the talking.  She did just fine.

Aub babysat from 8:00-1:00.  She was a busy girl.  I'm glad she texted Kaley and got permission to go on a walk to our house.  She and Kessley played Magnatiles and enjoyed the swing before heading back.  It was fun to see Aubrey relaxed and in her comfort zone.  I was a little anxious for everything to go just right.

When they dropped Aubrey off after lunch, she was high as a kite.  She had so many cute stories to share about her morning.  She felt much more confident in herself after this solo experience which was good because less than a week later the same family asked her to sit again.  This time, however, it was for Kessley and her four cousins ranging from 4-10 years of age!  I got to see Aubrey a little bit with the group of 5, and she was adorable.  She was creative in keeping everyone happy and busy as they moved from one activity to the next.  It was an impressive site.  Great job Aub!

Kess is a beautiful little girl.  We love the Jordan/Commander family and have been friends forever really.  All of all of our lives. :)  (Our families grew up in Odessa 1st ward and go back three generations in knowing each other, and loving and serving together.)
Aub and Kess heading back to Kessley's Nana's house.  She brought the five cousins to visit also.  It's nice to break up the babysitting day with a new setting.
