The Young Men's camp out was in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They hiked 6 miles up a mountain and our boys had backpacks that weighed 30+ pounds. They camped for the night at a lake and it was cold and rainy. Tanner was planning on sleeping in a hammock but the tarp he brought to cover wasn't water proof. He joined Parker in his two man tent. The next day they hiked 7 miles down the mountain in rain and hail.
Because of the weather, they spent a lot of time huddled under the shelter, near the fire or in their separate small tents. Not the funnest thing for active young men. The group decided to pack up camp and head to Bottomless Lakes which is near Roswell. Both boys said playing games and swimming in the lake was the highlight of the trip.
They came home with some fun and funny stories. They bonded with many of the other young men and leaders. They were sore and tired but Parker and Tanner are tough. I like seeing them do hard things. I know these experiences will mold them into better students and employees and husbands and fathers.
