My Mowing Day

Tanner was sick so I mowed with Brian for a few hours on Wednesday.  Luckily it was  cooler morning-mid 80s with a breeze.  Being outside and working hard was invigorating.  I had sweat running down my brow and stinging my eyes.  I felt alive and useful and strong.

I listened to the Hamilton Broadway musical soundtrack.  I've listened to some of those songs since we went to the show a few months ago but not in order and straight through. I was imagining the whole play in my head and it was awesome.

Recently I've been reading a couple of books about Hamilton.  (Hamilton the Revolution... which is writing about the making of the musical. Also, an historical fiction novel: My Dear Hamilton: a Novel of Eliza Schuyler.)  Anyway, even though it was a workout mowing for three hours, listening to the Hamilton soundtrack made my morning pretty enjoyable.

I don't know how Brian works outside in the heat all day, every day .  We went at 9:00.  I took a much needed 45 minute break when I picked up a friend's boys from Speed and Strength.  Then I headed back to the town homes and finished up the backyards. I left about 1:00.  Brian worked 2-3 more hours before he even came home for a lunch break.  Then he went back out until 5:30 and then headed out with the Young Men to do yard work for a sister in our ward.  I seriously can't even imagine.

I was a sweaty mess.  My sunglasses were in the car Brinley took to work so I borrowed this cool pair from the boys.  Today Brian came home from lunch.  My hair was fixed and I was wearing jean shorts and a nice blouse.   He said "You look nice."  I looked at him kind of surprised and he paused and said  "Oh, I guess I mostly saw you yesterday when you were mowing."  It was pretty cute compliment.  I knew what he meant.
