Friday

June 7, 2019
I had a my first good workout week of the summer.  It's been hard making it happen.  I always feel better when I am active though.  I did  a body pump class at the gym on Tuesday, walked with a friend on Wednesday, did Zumba at home on Thursday, lifted Friday morning and played volleyball Friday night, and finished with a circuit class at the gym on Saturday.   Now if I can keep it up with the kid's starting morning workouts at Permian I will be a happy girl.

Friday at noon I drove Brinley to Midland and dropped her at a friend's so they could head off to a YSA (Young Single Adult) conference in Del Rio.  Aubrey and I had plans to swim with the Birds for the afternoon.  We had a little communication from our boys the day before and they said they were coming home Friday night instead of Saturday.  However, as I was leaving Midland Parker texted that they were in Odessa.  What?  They decided to head home after breakfast rather than after lunch.

I picked them up at the church and was feeling torn.  I really wanted to spend time with them and hear about their week.  However, Aubrey had dutifully done all of her chores and was looking  forward to swimming with the Bird cousins.  I sent Aub over about 1:30 and spent about 30 minutes with Park and Tanner.  The boys were tired, dirty and not very talkative so I didn't feel as badly about leaving them.   After they had been home relaxing and recovering a few hours, I heard a little bit more about their adventures.

Britney and I had a fun time visiting at the pool while the cousins played and played.  Aubrey is great with little kids. (Braddock is only a year younger than she is so he doesn't count.  And Hudson is nine...so maybe she is just great with groups....anyway....)   She is quick to make up games and get things happening.  I think it's also a fun dynamic for her too be with the Birds because she is finally the oldest rather than the youngest.  They all have a great time together.

Friday night the Vore cousins invited us to play volleyball at the church.  Joseph and his girlfriend Kate were in town and they were trying to get a group together.  Brian had been mowing all day.  Brinley was out of town.  Parker was at a friend's.  And Aubrey really wanted to go.  That left me as the designated driver.  I went somewhat reluctantly but had a great time.  It was nice to get out of the house and be with other people.  Everyone was encouraging and positive.  It was fun to joke around and just interact with friends and family.  It was also fun for me to see Aubrey in action.  She is really good at volleyball.  I think Brian and I may be looking forward to some team volleyball action at Nimitz Middle School next year.

They had some little contest going with rings and catching mid-jump.  This is Char in action.  Sadly, my phone was too hot and I only got a couple of pictures.  Ella, who had no desire to jump off the diving board the day before, kept jumping and going for the rings.  It was really cute.  Darn phone.
Braddock getting ready to catch his ring.  (Aubrey was the ring tosser.)

This game had something to do with them all being her pets.  They came up with really cute names and would have to fetch their rings which would be hidden in their special area of the pool.

Not the greatest selfie but I'm including it anyway.  We were texting back and forth with our cousin Linda and so we snapped a picture and sent it her way.   I get to see her this weekend for Max and Mason's graduation party.  Can't wait.
